“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is ‘What are you doing for others?’” -Martin Luther King Jr.
Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. With this, we must also reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re going. MLK’s life work was dedicated to giving to others. He did this selflessly, but with power and grace, while standing for what he believed in. As we embark on this truly historic week, let’s remember that without the fight of men and women like MLK, we would not be where we are today. Because of those that fought for unity and inclusion of all colors, we are witness to the inauguration of the 1st Black and Indian female Vice President of the United States of America. We must follow MLK’s example and stand strong towards actionable change within ourselves and our community. And we must do this with power and grace.
I challenge you to find some time today to perform an act of service in your community—however big or small it may seem. This is a day for extending kindness, grace, and gratitude..and consider keeping it going everyday!
