Meet Good Citizen CEO & Founder, Jacqueline Hinton

Hola Pilates People!

We’re so happy to see so many new faces! It’s time for a re-introduction.

My name is Jacqueline Hinton, but you can call me Jackie. My hubs is Justin and we have a pup, Riley.

I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas with a B.F.A. in Dance, where I was introduced to Pilates as part of the curriculum. After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my professional dance career. Because of dance, I have had the opportunity to do some pretty cool stuff, but Pilates has kept me dancing and doing so much more for longer than I ever imagined.

I became a Pilates instructor in 2006 at Body Line. Maria is an amazing instructor and you must take her classes! While I was getting certified, I thought it was so GROSS to use the same Pilates loops everyone was putting their bare hands and feet in. That’s when the idea of the first personal Pilates loops was born!

It’s been a crazy (almost) 6 years, but we’ve learned so much, met so many amazing Pilates studio owners, teachers, and Pilates enthusiasts all over the world. When the pandemic hit, we never imagined the ups and downs that would happen. We are so very grateful for this community and your love and support.

I started this company to bring fun, color, and something different to the Pilates world, while changing the culture to be more clean, safe and hygienic. As a proud Latina, I grew up in a fun, festive family that inspired the bright colors of our loops. It makes my heart happy knowing the Latino spirit is being spread throughout the Pilates community. Memaw Mary would be so proud!

Good Citizen has its name for many reasons. We wanted to remind the Pilates community that we need to be good to one another, but also that Pilates is so much bigger than just what happens in the studio. Pilates helps us live our best lives, but we need to think outside the Pilates studio if we want to truly use Pilates to benefit more people. Over the years, the name Good Citizen has become even more meaningful for us. We have brought our core values to our business with growth: Pilates, Fun, Philanthropy!
